A starfish would probably only eat a clownfish that was already dead, it’s much too slow to be able to catch one. Starfish often scavenge on dead things and could probably much through a clown fish in a couple of hours or so, depending on how big it was
That isn’t to say a starfish won’t have a go at ambushing a fish to eat! Here’s a video of a sunflower star, a kind of starfish which moves very quickly, catching a kind of fish called a wolf eel:
Wow, thanks for the video Shaylon – I really wouldn’t have thought starfish capable of catching fish, interesting that the eel didn’t try to move away until it was too late
