The Toxodon was a mammal that lived between around 2.6 million years to 16,500 years ago. It was actually more like a Rhino without a horn, but a similar body shape to a hippo. It was initially believed, when fossils were discovered that it might have been amphibious like Hippos but Palaeontologists who analysed later realised it’s skeleton was more adapted to living on land all the time and shared features with Rhinos and Elephants. The fossils are also not usually found in areas that you would find hippos
