      Yes that can definitely happen. Fish will pick on smaller or weaker fish and if a fish dies (from a disease or injury or even just from the stress of bullying), it is very common for the rest of the fish in the tank to eat it.

      It’s really common. I worked at an aquarium, and we had several exhibits with multiple species. One night the cod got peckish, and we came in the next morning to find a very fat cod and three fewer rockfish!

      As Natalie and Shaylon correctly point out – yes this can happen. It might not be just about wanting a meal though as it could be something to do with territorial disputes between fish as well.
